Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers

This capacitor directly replaces any dual run capacitor with matching specifications. Verify the following ratings on your original capacitor:
  • Capacitance: 30/7.5 uF or 30+7.5 MFD
  • Voltage: 370V or 440V (this 370/440V unit can replace either)
  • Shape: Round (ensure physical dimensions allow for a secure fit)

Compatibility & Fitment

Designed for use in HVAC systems, including central air conditioners and heat pumps. This dual capacitor provides power to two electric motors simultaneously:
  • A higher capacitance terminal (30 uF) for the compressor motor (HERM).
  • A lower capacitance terminal (7.5 uF) for the condenser fan motor (FAN).

When to Replace

A capacitor may need replacement if you observe these symptoms:
  • Outdoor unit hums but the fan does not spin.
  • Compressor fails to start or struggles to turn on.
  • AC unit starts but then shuts down shortly after.
  • Visible signs of damage, such as a bulging or leaking top.
  • Capacitance measures outside the ±5% tolerance when tested with a multimeter.

Installation Tips

  • WARNING:Disconnect all electrical power to the HVAC unit before handling the capacitor.
  • Safely discharge the old capacitor by carefully shorting across the terminals with an insulated-handle screwdriver.
  • Document or photograph the wire connections to the C, FAN, and HERM terminals before removal.
  • Connect the wires to the corresponding terminals on the new capacitor.
  • Secure the new capacitor in the mounting bracket to prevent vibration.
