Compatibility & Fitment

  • Fits most MTD 600 model series snow throwers manufactured from 1995 to 2002.
  • Fits most MTD 700 model series snow throwers manufactured in 2003.

When to Replace

  • Clutch lever is unresponsive, loose, or has excessive play.
  • Drive wheels fail to engage or disengage when the lever is operated.
  • Cable is visibly frayed, kinked, stretched, or broken.
  • Inconsistent forward or reverse propulsion.

Installation Tips

  • Disconnect the spark plug wire for safety before starting installation.
  • Note or photograph the routing of the old cable prior to removal.
  • After installation, check and adjust cable tension as specified in the equipment's service manual.
  • Verify the clutch lever operates smoothly before starting the engine.
