When to Replace
Replace the grease filter when it is heavily coated with grease, damaged, deformed, or no longer allows the exhaust fan to move air normally. A clogged filter can reduce ventilation performance and contribute to grease buildup around the microwave exhaust.
Installation Tips
- Switch off the microwave before servicing the filter.
- Remove the existing filter according to the microwave’s filter-retainer design; a screwdriver may be needed on some models.
- Measure the existing filter and compare it with the 5 x 7-5/8 x 3/32-inch replacement before installation.
- Install the filter in the same orientation as the original, with the grease-capture surface positioned in the exhaust path.
- Check that the filter sits securely and does not interfere with the exhaust fan.
- Replacing the filter is generally a short, straightforward service task.
