When to Replace

  • Pull cord is frayed, cut, or broken
  • Cord fails to retract or retracts slowly
  • Starting mechanism does not engage the engine flywheel
  • Unit housing is cracked, broken, or has damaged mounting points
  • Excessive resistance or grinding felt during pull start

Installation Tips

  • Disconnect the spark plug wire before servicing.
  • Remove the three bolts securing the old starter assembly.
  • Align the new assembly and secure with the original hardware.
  • Tighten mounting bolts evenly to prevent damage to the housing. Do not over-torque.
  • Reconnect the spark plug wire after installation is complete.
