When to Replace

  • Engine fails to start when the control bail is engaged.
  • Engine does not stop when the control bail is released.
  • The control lever is difficult to operate or feels slack.
  • Cable is visibly stretched, frayed, kinked, or broken.

Installation Tips

  • Disconnect the spark plug wire before beginning service to prevent accidental starting.
  • Photograph or note the routing of the original cable before removal.
  • Ensure the new cable is routed correctly, avoiding sharp bends or pinch points.
  • Verify both Z-bends are fully seated in the control bail and the engine brake bracket.
  • After installation, test the control bail's function before reconnecting the spark plug.
