When to Replace

  • The chain produces fine sawdust instead of coarse wood chips.
  • Cutting requires excessive force or pressure.
  • The chain smokes even when properly lubricated and tensioned.
  • Cutters are damaged, chipped, or worn down significantly.
  • The chain has a broken drive link, tie-strap, or cutter.

Installation Tips

  • Always disconnect the power source (unplug or remove battery/spark plug) before servicing the chain.
  • Wear protective gloves during installation.
  • Clean the guide bar groove and oil holes before seating the new chain.
  • Ensure cutters face forward in the direction of rotation on the top of the bar.
  • Properly tension the chain according to your saw's manual; it should be snug but still pull freely by hand.
