When to Replace

  • Outdoor unit fan is not spinning or turns slowly.

  • Capacitance measures outside the rated tolerance when tested with a multimeter.

Installation Tips

  • WARNING: Stored electrical charge can cause severe shock. Disconnect all power to the HVAC unit at the breaker and service disconnect before handling.
  • Safely discharge the existing capacitor by carefully shorting across the terminals with an insulated-handle screwdriver.
  • Document or photograph the wire placement on the old capacitor's terminals (C, H, F) before disconnecting.
  • Connect the wires to the corresponding terminals on the new capacitor.
  • Secure the new capacitor in the mounting strap to prevent vibration damage.
