Description

PU-CB98 Control Board Heat Sensor (PU-CBHS)

Key Features

  • Precision Thermal Monitoring:Designed to provide real-time temperature feedback to the control board, ensuring the stove operates within safe thermal parameters.
  • Overheat Protection:Acts as a critical safety component that can trigger a shutdown or adjust the feed rate if the stove exceeds its maximum operational temperature.
  • High-Temperature Lead Wires:Features insulated wiring capable of withstand the extreme radiant heat found inside the pellet stove cabinet.
  • Plug-and-Play Connector:Equipped with a standard white plastic molex-style connector for a direct, secure interface with the Englander control board.

Compatibility & Fitment

This sensor is compatible with a wide range of Englander, Summers Heat, and Timberland pellet and multi-fuel stoves manufactured after 1998. Key compatible models include:
  • Evolution Series:25-EP, 25-EPI.
  • PDV Series:25-PDV, 55-SHP22, 55-TRP22.
  • PDVC Series:25-PDVC, 55-SHP10, 55-SHP10L, 55-TRP10.
  • Multi-Fuel Models:10-CPM, 10-CDV.
  • Other Models:25-IP, 25-PAF, 25-PFS, 25-PI, 25-PUF.

When to Replace

  • "E-1" or "E-2" Error Codes:Most Englander stoves will display a specific error code on the control board if the heat sensor is disconnected or has failed.
  • Stove Won't Start:If the sensor detects a "false" high heat reading, the control board may prevent the stove from entering the startup sequence.
  • Frequent Overheating Shutdowns:The stove shuts down prematurely even though the room is not at the target temperature, indicating the sensor may be out of calibration.
  • Visible Damage:The wires have melted, or the sensor probe itself is corroded or broken from ash exposure.

Installation Tips

  • Safety First:Unplug the stove from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before opening the side panels.
  • Location:The sensor is typically mounted on the side of the exhaust blower or the firewall. Note the exact position of the old probe before removing it.
  • Wire Routing:Ensure the new wires are routed away from the hot exhaust manifold and moving parts like the auger motor or blower impellers. Use high-heat zip ties if necessary.
  • Clean the Area:While the panel is open, use a vacuum to remove ash and dust from the control board and blower area to improve overall sensor accuracy.
  • Testing:After installation, plug the stove in and observe the control board for 60 seconds to ensure no error codes appear before lighting a fire.
